Fred, Bike Racing, and Rock Climbing

It's been a long week. Chloe, Stella and me (Dan) got super sick early in the week and spent a couple of days throwing up everywhere. Luckily Katie and Fred stayed healthy. We've all recovered and had a fun weekend bike racing and rock climbing.

The girls sure like having a baby brother around to take care of. He's much more fun than thier dolls.

Fred loves to take baths. He never cries at all in the tub.

Isn't he cute?

We went out to a local BMX track on Friday to race. I got dead last place in my race, but Stella won the 2 and under age group, and Chloe was 20 years ahead of the next 4 year old in her group. The girls went home with trophies, I went home empty handed.

Chloe shrieked and giggled all the way to the finish line.

Chloe was so proud of her trophy. She said she was going to show all her friends and clean it every day.

We took the girls rock climbing on Saturday. Chloe did really good climbing on her own, and did better than she ever had before. Stella was content to just play with the dirt, and didn't care to try climbing.

Fred ?? LaRiviere

Fred was born at 6:30 pm on August 15th. He weighed 8 lbs 1 oz. He is doing well, but the doctors were concerned about his grunting and lack of crying, so he is in a special nursery for 48 hours. He is healthy, but they wanted to keep a close eye on him to make sure he stays that way. He should be ready to come home on Saturday. Katie did a great job making it through another fun filled delivery, and she is recovering well. The girls are thrilled to have a new baby brother, but we will have to quickly set some ground rules to make sure he doesn't get dressed up in princess cloths. Click on the pictures for larger versions of each of them.

Wheels

skate or die.

the like-a-bike taught her balance. she was able to ride without training wheels her first attempt. last month (before the like-a-bike) she wasn't even close. now she is a pro.
chloe took this picture of stella:

Hot Springs

we hiked up to some hotsprings up spanish fork canyon. it was a lot longer and harder than we expected. it felt good for me (fat prego lady) to get out. we went with our friends amy, dalls, tyler, and toby dog. chloe hiked most of the way back (about 45 minutes). amy held her hand and went ahead of us. we couldn't catch them. we were tired, my knee was hurting but we thought we were walking fast. we thought for sure amy was carrying her. when we got within ear-shot we yelled for them to wait. i guess chloe wanted to beat us back to the car. i can't believe she hiked all that way. she doesn't even like to walk across parking lots.
i love her curls.

we didn't get back to the car until about 10:45. we were stiff and tired in the morning.

Preschool Graduation

chloe graduated from preschool today. they were supposed to dress up as what they want to be when they grow up. first she said princess. i explained that we don't have them in our country and no royal bloodlines. then she wanted to be a pro snowboarder like torah. then she changed her mind to mom. so i put an apron on her(explaining that some moms cook a lot), a bandana for cleaning the house, and she carried baby. (don't send this to any feminists.)

she has one more year of preschool since she is an october birthday. next year she gets to go 3 times a week. people always say that its hard sending your kid to kindergarten. i really can't imagine feeling anything more than excited.

Happy Birthday Stella Bella

we celebrated stella's bday while we were in st. george (so we could have people to celebrate with). we had pizza and cake at sam's house with all the cousins.

she kept blowing on the same side she dipped in the bubbles.

ethan (rachel's), ella (nate's), griffin (sam's)-i guess that's how he smiles, and stella. she loves to dress up.

now that she is two and about to be a big sister, we will start transitioning her into a "big girl". (i can't believe she will only be my baby for 3 more months.) we'll take away the pacifier, move her to a toddler bed and potty train her. i wish she could be a baby a little longer. she's been so easy, i hope being a big girl doesn't ruin her.

Triathlon

this isn't about chloe and stella but i figure those who care to read about them might be interested in these people too.
dan and ben and drake did a triathlon in st. george. ben got 1st in his age group, dan got 3rd in his, and drake got 2nd. ben also got a faster time than dan. dan thinks he might have swam an extra lap and ben probably swam one less. the announcer couldn't pronounce LaRiviere when she was giving ben his medal. after trying (and failing) she said, "from france!" we assumed it was because she recognized the name as french but dan realized later it was probably from the speedo he wore.

before the race. dan isn't as cut as ben but look how skinny he's gotten.

after the race with their medals

Easter in sunny St. George
